MessageSujet: Hello Cousin!   Lun 1 Mai à 20:41

My name is Magdalene Crowley. Mathias Strawel (c. 1635) is the great-great-great-grandfather of my great-grandmother, Mary Magdalene Strauel (b. 1850). We are the descendents of Mathias Straulin (c. 1663), the brother of your ancestor George Wolfgang Strawlin. I am so excited to find your website!

Please forgive my writing in English. My French is very basic. If you have difficulty communicating with me in English, please let me know. My sister, Eve, speaks French fluently and can translate for us.

I have just put the Strauel line of our genealogy online here:
http://gene.crowley.cx/

I will be posting another message soon regarding particular people who may be part of both of our genealogies.

Most of our Strauel genealogy was a gift from Abbe Raymond Seemann of Grussenheim. He gave us a beautiful drawing of our Strauel family tree in 1976, which may contain your ancestors also. When I have a chance, I will take a photograph of the drawing and put it online for you.

I am so happy to meet you! I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello Magdalene,

I'm very happy to read you. I did'nt have school in Harvard, but my english will be OK. Did you visit my website at this adress : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/wjehl ? If not, you should... The english version is under construction for a long time now (I'm not sure it will be finished one day), but you'll find informations about my lineage and yours...

The french version is more completed and when I'll get enough time I'll put old documents on line...

This Abbe Seemann wrote a note (in french) about the religious history of the Jehl family. In that note he speaks about Father Joseph Strauel who died in USA visitinbg his brothers. I did type it in the french version at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/wjehl/perehenri.htm

Read you soon...

Wilfrid

Magdalene,

I am fluent in both English and French. I am no longer fluent in Alsatian or German but can still read and speak either still pretty well. I spent part of my childhood in Elsenheim (a village next to Grussenheim). Now I live in a suburb of Memphis, TN. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Magdalena,

I found cheers that your Mathias WENDLING (birth 09-21-1738) who married Anne Marie BUOB (birth 07-04-1737) on monday 11-24-1760 is Philippe WENDLING and Catherine VOGEL's son. I don't have any other information about the parents, and I don't know Catherine's parents.

Hope it helps you...

MessageSujet: Thank You and a Question   Mar 26 Sep à 1:21

Thank you both Wilfrid and Philippe! I sincerely appreciate all of your kind assistance.

I will research Philippe Wendling and Catherine Vogel and try to determine why we have Anne-Marie Ambort listed as Mathias's mother. I probably got mixed up with another wife somewhere.

Wilfrid, I have a question about the information on this web page: http://perso.orange.fr/wjehl/jean3.htm

If Jean Georges's parents (Johannes et Magdalena) married in 1728 and he was married in 1745, he could not have been more than 16 years old at the time of his wedding. That seems very young!

In le Généalogie d'Hélène et Thierry Bianco (http://perso.orange.fr/thierry.bianco/julia/pag10.html#43) there is a record of a son of Jean JEHL and Magdalene TRENDLER named Jean Georges who was born 6 juillet 1749 à Grussenheim and who married Maria-Anna Dietsch in 1772.

According to their records, the Jean Georges who married Catherine STOFFEL is not Jean (3)'s son but instead Jean(3)'s brother (also the son of Johannes(2) and Apollonia Schmitt). This would make Jean George's marriage date more sensible, would it not?

Let me know what you think!

Thanks so much,
M.

MessageSujet: Catherine Vogel and Philippe Wendling   Jeu 28 Sep à 0:13

Hello Wilfred,

It appears that Catherine Vogel is Philippe Wendling's mother (the wife of Antoine Wendling). Thank you so much for bringing her to my attention! It would probably have taken me 5 years to find her without you...

Dear Maggie,

You're right about Jean Georges, he's Jean3's brother. I didn't release my website for a long time now. My researches are more heading for my mother's lienage in russia (her father) and in llithuania (her mother).

In fact there is just one jean georges in my direct lineage.

Thunk you for your eagle eyes....

Hi there !!

The more i travel through this forum, the more i realise we all have the same roots !!

Maggie, i allow myself to check your genealogy and i was completely astonished by the number of JEHL you have in there !!
The more incredible is the great amount that are directly in my genealogy !!

Unfortunately, i found the JEHL By checking your genealogy by names. Would it be possible for you to give me a link to a tree where i could exactly find the JEHL part of the tree ??

Best regards

Harald
